SWIFT Microwave Wart Therapy

Swift® Microwave Therapy is a non-invasive procedure utilizes microwave technology to target and eliminate stubborn warts and corns.

Unlike conventional wart removal methods, Swift® Microwave Therapy delivers precise microwave energy directly to the affected tissue. The microwaves generate heat within the wart, effectively destroying the infected cells and stimulating the body’s immune response. The therapy is quick, typically lasting only a few seconds per treatment spot, and requires no anesthesia or downtime.

Custom Foot Orthotics

Custom foot orthotics are specially designed shoe inserts (or insoles) made to support and align your feet in a way that improves function, reduces pain, and prevents injuries.

Benefits of Custom Foot Orthotics:

  1. Pain Relief: Custom orthotics can relieve foot pain caused by conditions like plantar fasciitis, arthritis, or flat feet. They provide cushioning and support in areas that need it most.

  2. Improved Foot Alignment: They help align your feet and ankles properly, which can correct gait issues, reduce pressure on certain areas, and prevent problems like misalignment of the knees, hips, and lower back.

  3. Better Stability and Support: They provide additional arch support, helping with conditions like flat feet or high arches, and promoting overall balance.

  4. Prevention of Foot Deformities: Custom orthotics can help prevent or manage foot conditions that lead to deformities, like bunions, hammertoes, or calluses, by redistributing pressure.

  5. Enhanced Comfort: By providing better shock absorption and pressure distribution, they can improve comfort when walking, standing, or engaging in physical activities.

McKay Podiatry uses gait analysis and years of experience to properly diagnose and treat foot and lower limb alingment issues.

ToeFX

ToeFX is a treatment aimed at restoring the appearance and health of toenails affected by fungal infections or other conditions, offering an alternative to more invasive options like oral medication or surgery.

ToeFX® works by a process called photodisinfection therapy (PDT), which involves the administration of a light-sensitive compound known as a  photosensitizer (PS), followed by light irradiation at a specific wavelength that “activates” the PS to kill the target bacteria, virus, or fungal organism. McKay Podiatry currently uses ToeFX 2 which uses double the lights to cut treatment time in half per visit!

Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetic Foot Care is incredibly important to prevent complications, as people with diabetes are at higher risk for foot problems due to nerve damage (neuropathy) and poor circulation.

Ingrown Toenail Surgery

An ingrown toenail occurs when the edge or corner of a toenail grows into the surrounding skin, causing pain, swelling, redness, and sometimes infection.

We offer two main types of ingrown nail surgeries:

Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA)

Partial Nail Avulsion is the most commonly performed procedure for treating ingrown nails. During this procedure, a small portion of the ingrown nail edge is removed. Following this, a chemical matrixectomy is done, where a chemical phenol is applied to destroy the nail-growing cells at the base, ensuring that the troublesome nail edge does not regrow. The procedure is done under local anesthesia, so you won’t feel any pain. The entire process takes about an hour, with the removal of the nail edge itself taking around 20 minutes.

Total Nail Avulsion (TNA)

Total Nail Avulsion involves removing the entire toenail to treat the ingrown nail. This option is often chosen by individuals who are dissatisfied with the appearance of their toenail, especially if it's damaged, deformed, infected, thickened, or causing discomfort in addition to the ingrown portion. After the nail is removed, a new one will typically grow back unless a chemical matrixectomy is performed to prevent regrowth.
